Occasionally, a store brand item surpasses "good enough" and actually performs remarkably well. Sam's Choice plastic wrap (not Great Value plastic wrap) is one of those products for me. I realize a wiki would be a more appropriate venue for this question (as would a web site with more than a dozen readers), but I'm in search of other items that happen to be both inexpensive and of excellent quality. So what have you found?

Impressive Generic

Hello, friend of Mark's, enjoy the blog!
I actually found a generic pizza sauce in Canada that was monumentally better than the Kraft brand or others. It was the "No Name" (literally) brand, unfortunately I haven't found one as tasty here since I moved. It did open me up to the possibility that brand is meaningless and something much cheaper can actually be better.
I can tolerate pretty much any off-brand pop. Safeway (don't think they're in the midwest) always has good prices on generic pop: $1.30/6-pack, $.80/2-liter. Another plus, name-brands rarely have cool flavors like black cherry or grape.
We have had a terrible time with brand name diapers. Without going into great detail. . . the cheapos just work better.
